51 Ways Ordinary People Reached World-Class

This is a post by Robin Sharma and I beg to share with you all.

  1. Know what you want. Clarity is power. And vague goals promote vague results.
  2. Remember that every problem has a solution. Maybe you just can’t see it. Yet.
  3. In this Age of Dramatic Distraction, the performer who focuses the best wins the most.
  4. Before someone will help you, you need to help them.
  5. Become the most passionate person you know. It’ll be contagious.
  6. Know more about your craft/the work you do than anyone who has ever done the work you do…in the history of the world.
  7. Join The 5 am Club. Your most valuable hours are 5am-8am. They have the least interruptions.
  8. Devote yourself to learning something new about your field of mastery every day. Success belongs to the relentless learners. Because as you know more, you can achieve more.
  9. Remember that when you transform your fitness, you’ll transform your business.
  10. Don’t check your mobile when you’re meeting with another person. It’s rude. And rude people don’t reach world-class.
  11. Every time you do what scares you, you take back the power that you gave to the thing that scared you. And so you become more powerful.
  12. A problem is only a problem if you make the choice to see it as a problem.
  13. Stop being a victim. Your business and personal life was made by you. No one else is responsible. To make it better, make better choices. And new decisions.
  14. You can lead without a title. Don’t wait to get a position to stand for excellence, peak quality and overdelivery on every expectation.
  15. Find your own style. Be an original. Every superstar differentiated themselves from The Herd. And marched to their own drumbeat.
  16. Understand that when you play small with your success, you betray your potential. And the birthright you were born under.
  17. Eat less food and you’ll get more done.
  18. As you become more successful, stay really really hungry. Nothing fails like success. Because when you’re successful, it’s easy to stop outlearning+outOverDelivering+outthinking and outexecuting everyone around you. (Success is Beautiful. And dangerous).
  19. If you’re not overprepared, you’re underprepared.
  20. The only level of great manners to play at is “Exceedingly Polite”. In our world, this alone will make you a standout. And differentiate you in your marketplace.
  21. Remember that the moment you think you’re a Master, you lose your Mastery. And the minute you think you know everything, you know nothing.
  22. To double your results, double your level of execution.
  23. Invest in your personal and pro development. All superstars do.
  24. Get this year’s best Targets of Opportunity down onto a 1 Page Plan. Then review it every morning while the rest of the world sleeps.
  25. You don’t get lucky. You create lucky.
  26. When you push through a difficult project, you don’t get to the other side. You reach The Next Level.
  27. Smile. And remember to inform your face.
  28. Spend time in solitude every day. Your best ideas live there.
  29. Debrief on how you lived out your day every night in a journal. This will not only record your personal history, it will make you uber-clear on what you’re doing right and what needs to be improved.
  30. If your not being criticized a lot, you’re not doing very much. Ridicule is the price of ambition.
  31. Develop a monomaniacal focus on just a few things. The secret to productivity is simplicity.
  32. To get the results very few people have, be strong enough to do what very few people are willing to do.
  33. Rest. Recover. It’ll make you stronger.
  34. Buy a smaller TV and build a larger library.
  35. Remember that the bigger the goal, the stronger a person you must become to achieve that goal. So goal-achieving is a superb practice for character-building
  36. Food fuels your body. Learning feeds your mind.
  37. Don’t ask for respect. Earn it
  38. Finish what you start. And always end strong.
  39. Breathe.
  40. In business, don’t play to survive. Play to win.
  41. Protect your good name. It’s your best asset.
  42. Remember that words have power. Use the language of leadership versus the vocabulary of a victim.
  43. Give more than you take. The marketplace rewards generosity.
  44. Know that if it’s not messy, you’re not making progress.
  45. Be a hero to a kid.
  46. In business, aim for iconic. Go for legendary. Make history by how awesome you are at what you do.
  47. Please don’t confuse activity with productivity. Many many people are simply busy being busy.
  48. Your doubts are liars. Your fears are traitors. Stop buying the goods they are attempting to sell you.
  49. The best anti-aging remedy in the world is working really hard.
  50. World-Class performers have no plan B. Failure just isn’t an option.
  51. You have the power to change the world—one brave act and one person at a time.

Thank you for reading and peak your Life.

To your Success!

The Untold story of John D. Rockefeller

Hey guys, I am glad to bring this piece to you. Its a friends post and desired to share it with you because of the lessons it thought me. Please read on.

Though many roads lead to the Path we seek, essentially, there are only two we should always try to follow: reason and practice.

A business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out.
Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment.
He sat on a park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.
Suddenly an old man appeared before him.
“I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.
After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”
He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.” Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.
The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world! “I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized.
But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe.
Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.
With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment.
He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.
Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check.
At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.
“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried.
“I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller. ”
And she led the old man away by the arm.
The astonished executive just stood there, stunned.

All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.
Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money (real or imagined), that had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

I have come to realize that most times, you don’t need external influence to motivate you. Sometimes, the motivation you need is actually within you. “…and David encouraged himself in the Lord his God” Ist Samuel 30:6.

How many times have situations overwhelmed you? How many times were you able to shake up the ghost and run? Things will happen and those that will leave you speechless will as well happen but are you determined not to cry over what has happened. I wish to use this medium to assure you that you are still valuable. You have a responsibility to strengthen yourself because you are  a King. Let not situations look down on you. Always find inward strength to propel you to more success. Don’t rest on your oars. God won’t let you down.

Rule fearlessly!

Believe In Yourself No Matter What People Say or Think!

“Death is inevitable, but only those who are determined to birth their dreams will live even after they die” Kelechi Madubuike

If having others believing in you and your dream was a requirement for success, most of the worlds greats would never have been where they are today, and perhaps, would not have been able to accomplish anything worthwhile in life. Sometimes, taking several opinions from the public could be conflicting and so, could lead to confusion. Let not your power of decision stand in the wisdom of men. You’ve got to stop worrying yourself about what people think about you. One thing that will always stand firm is what you and God thinks about you. People may say whatever they want and wish but the council of God only will stand.

Going psychological, we can take clue from the findings of Dr. Daniel Amen who in his 18/40/60 Rule stated that “when one is 18 years of age, he worries what people say about him/her; when he is 40 years old, he stops worrying about what people say, such that it doesn’t matter; and when he is 60, he realizes that no one has been speaking about him at all”. But surprisingly, most of the time, nobody really thinks about you. While you are possibly busy thinking about what people are saying about you, your likes are busy doing what they know how to do best. The best thing here for anyone who cares to know is that combining the three (3) scenarios will make a perfect merge: that is to say that, while you are aware that people could be talking you, you should give no ear to whatever they might be saying (which most at times are negative), and in fact, conditioning your mind to believe that nothing like that exist.

Why would you consider what people say before birthing your dream? If you watch the weather, the scripture says, you might never sow. Would you as a doctor instead of treating your patient, stands to think of what is going on the mind of the same patient? Gosh! One thing I can tell you goes on in the patients mind is ‘I hope I get well soon and go back home.’

You’ve got to grow up. You’re actually wasting your valuable time and energy by thinking what others might be saying about you. Let your mind be fixed on doing things that will achieve your goals.  Unnecessary public opinion constitute a distraction to your walk to success, they don’t matter at all. There’s no speed limit in the success race. You determine your speed. Don’t let your dreams and goals die with you. Believe in yourself, belief you can achieve your goals and likewise belief in God.

Toast to your success!

“Life has taught me that everywhere (every place) whether good or bad can never be your place”.

There is a place for every one of us in life no matter what anybody may think and notwithstanding how we may feel.  Looks could be deceiving at times likewise feelings. No one can possibly displace you if you are in your right place; in fact, you will become the leader there has never been in that place while attracting accolades, envy and jealousy. You where not born to be a misfit neither were you born to be a failure. Notwithstanding, failure occurs sometimes to force us out of where we are maybe because we are no longer supposed to be there or maybe to test our tenacity.

There is a place for you

Most of us focus on appearance more than we should. Many of us go with the bandwagon. The place is bad does not mean it is not the right place for you to be and vice versa. It could be signaling you that there is a great opportunity to be taken advantage of. Most problems come with an inherent opportunity. If we are not sensitive enough to see the opportunities within us, we may lose out of our rightful place. A farmer once sold out his only possession which was his farmland for a few pieces of silver and traveled to a far country in search of diamonds not knowing that the farmland he so neglected bore the largest diamond mine of all time in the whole world. Likewise did a professor sell his boiling kettle to a chemist without knowing that that boiling kettle will one day become the origin of the worlds finest and most sought after soft drink brand (Coca Cola). Don’t move along with the bandwagon mentality, it could be destructive in the end. The place might look so nourished and promising, mind you, it could be a trap to lure you out of your rightful place.

Every star shines in its own socket, so, locate your own socket and shine like the greatest of stars. Don’t be so rigid. Change when you sense the need to. Who you are and where you are will determine what you do and what you become. Where you have is better than what you do not have yet. Strive to be who you want to become. Don’t act because others are acting or because somebody is asking you to. No one can live your life better than you can. You are better than you think. Live as the King you are born to be. Get off sight to gain insight. Your decision matters if you are to find your rightful place.

“Those who cannot let go of their past will find it absolutely difficult to face their future”.
The criterion for anyone to be called a successful person is that she/he has been able to maintain their level of success or has improved on them. Except you and I improves on our performances of time past, what we celebrate today would soon become obsolete. Success actually means, “Succeeding in succession”. If your yesterday was good, thank God, but don’t relax, rather, build on those achievements and keep succeeding. In the event that your yesterday was bitter, sad, frustrating, miserable, disappointing,, rejoice because yesterday is gone forever with every each new day that passes and there are more opportunities for you to make amends today. Failure is not totally a bad idea; it’s a new opportunity to make better what you were unable to do the last time. Every one of us wishes to get it at the first instance, yes I know and it’s a good one too. But should in case you didn’t, what will your reaction be? Thomas Edison was said to have failed 999 times in his quest to invent the light bulb, but do you know that in those cases, he found 999 ways to succeed and in which he actually did succeeded.
Do you know that the more you think about the past, is the more you are tied to your past and the more you lag behind?
Yesterday is gone, today is a guarantee and tomorrow is a probability. Today and tomorrow are loaded with numerous possibilities and you must take full advantage of them if you are to keep succeeding. Stop wallowing in regret and self pity. Up your performance from yesterdays level and your achievement today will be upgraded. Refuse to downgrade yourself because of the event of last time.
You don’t have too much time to waste in life. There is more you can get today than what you have gotten already and there is more you can get than what you probably have lost. You can be better than you are presently. Have you ever wondered why successful people hardly rest? The reason is not far-fetched. It is because they don’t wish to be irrelevant.

Keep Succeeding

Keep moving, don’t stop moving. Don’t let the oil stop flowing and that is the more reason you should keep pouring. Success is all over you. It won’t stop coming until you stop acting. Only those willing to change can b in charge. The way to keep living is to keep succeeding. Don’t slow or break your pace. To avoid being irrelevant, you better keep succeeding. Success is you inheritance. It has no end until you call it quit.
