You Too Can!!!

“You will always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”- Wayne Gretzky

I have a personal message for you.  Please read on.

As someone well acquainted with life’s ups and downs, I see a great number of people struggling in our current economic environment.  I want to encourage you to know that no experience in your life is too difficult to overcome and no defeat is permanent.

I serve as an example, both good and bad, of how to deal with difficulties in our lives. I have seen it through the good times and through the bad times. I think it is important to enjoy those times when life smiles upon us.  I also believe that it is unrealistic to expect good times to last forever. No way! For most of us, life offers abundant opportunities for both laughter and tears.  The good times you put in your pocket to savor. The hard times go to your heart and into your soul. As Michael Jordan would always say and I quote, “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed”.

My friend, you’ve got to decide to be relentless; you’ve got to decide to never give up.  You’ve got to find some reasons within yourself that will give you the stamina – if life has caught you on the blind side – to get back up again!

You’ve got to be BOLD – you’ve got to believe in yourself.  There’s an old African proverb that says “If there’s no enemy within, the enemy without can do us no harm.” Your decision now matters the most. Often times, “I CAN’T” is just our defense mechanism, a lie we have sold to ourselves to avoid getting hurt. Note this, anytime you try to run in the direction of your biggest FEARS, you will find an extraordinary life following. This reminds me of an experience during my primary school days. I had this boy in my class. Most of us regarded him as a bully. Each time he comes around anyone of our mates, he threatens to hit. A day came after a long while of threats from him that I said I would never take such insults again. He came as usual to bully when I fiercely gave him the surprise of his life. From that day on, he seized to bully any one of us.

Yeah that was about me but how about the great philosopher Socrates? I may not have all the time in the world to narrate his story to you. I will only live you with his final word to a young man, If you dare seek knowledge like you desire air, you will find it running after you.

Toast to your GREATNESS!

I will be waiting to read your comments and insights.

Finish It!

“If you can’t, you must but if you must, you can”- Anthony Robbins.

This is a case I have been harboring within me and I am pleased to let it to you my friends to share with me in order to enhance your life. I have noticed that most people are good starters. Notwithstanding, not many are able to go through to the last phase of every project they start. It is on statistics that only two out of every 10 business established crosses the three years mark. Then where are the other eight? There are lots of questions to ask of all these issues. Why do people get cold some time after starting up a new project? The answer is not farfetched. It could be that they have lost the enthusiasm or passion that the once had. The motivation isn’t there any longer. Sometimes, they regret ever venturing into such projects. The feeling is sour taste so is the memory of having been defeated. What then can be done to overcome even when it seems winning is an exaggeration?

It is very easy to desire giving up and counts yourself as a failure… to mope, cry and let it affect everything in your life when you can’t get project moving and making you the kind of cash you would desire. It is difficult to concentrate and do something else.

The solution you need is within you. Determination! Yes determination is what you need if you are to finish anything you started without being knocked down on the road by the pressures, stress and complications that might arise on the way as Anthony Robbins said and I quote, “The path to success is to take massive, determined action”. The smaller your vision gets at the beginning, the bigger it becomes towards the end. That is the more reason you have more friends in your beginning and less at the end because those ones becomes your companions. Not everybody is courageous enough to fight through to the end. But you have the opportunity to raise your game with a massive determined action. Many are called but few will be chosen. Will you be among that few to be chosen is a question for another day.

You must finish what you have started if you are to take the crown of glory, victory and success. Have you seen anyone who started a race just to get half-way stopped to get the price? Never! You must be able to finish first. Life is that race. You can’t afford to stop half way every time. I read a life story of a celebrity (name withheld). When she was 14, she was always last in her age-grades swimming competition until a time, she decided to quit swimming because her friends and mates laughed at her each time she came last. She returned home one evening and told her grand mum she wants to quit swimming, her grand mum yelled at her and said, you want to quit the only sports you know how to do well? Then reminded her how she loved her and wished that one day she can start winning. To cut the story short, she went to school the next day to face the stereotype but this time she was determined. When she got to school, her age grade had already finished their race and it was remaining the 17 year olds. Her coach told her she was going to run with them. She became afraid but had no choice and so she did and at the middle of the race while still swimming, she raised her head to see someone by her side while recalling the words of her granny, she swam faster determined never to come last this time. Surprisingly for her, that was her only competitor to the first position that she out-swam. On finishing, she raised her head and burst out in tears and while seeing her coach running to embrace her. She said, why is that I am always too slow that they all got out before me? Her coach embraced her and broke the news that she finished top. On hearing that, she stopped crying and looked back to see her granny and friends running to come and congratulate her.

The knowledge in this brief story tells me that when you determine to do anything, there is no Jupiter than stop you. You have your destiny in your hand. Don’t let it leave you. Determine to go the extra mile, dare to do what you have never done before. You can finish like you are always able to start. There is nothing you cannot accomplish if you dare to and like Anthony Robbins would say, “it is in your moment of decision that your destiny is shaped”.

“Life has taught me that everywhere (every place) whether good or bad can never be your place”.

There is a place for every one of us in life no matter what anybody may think and notwithstanding how we may feel.  Looks could be deceiving at times likewise feelings. No one can possibly displace you if you are in your right place; in fact, you will become the leader there has never been in that place while attracting accolades, envy and jealousy. You where not born to be a misfit neither were you born to be a failure. Notwithstanding, failure occurs sometimes to force us out of where we are maybe because we are no longer supposed to be there or maybe to test our tenacity.

There is a place for you

Most of us focus on appearance more than we should. Many of us go with the bandwagon. The place is bad does not mean it is not the right place for you to be and vice versa. It could be signaling you that there is a great opportunity to be taken advantage of. Most problems come with an inherent opportunity. If we are not sensitive enough to see the opportunities within us, we may lose out of our rightful place. A farmer once sold out his only possession which was his farmland for a few pieces of silver and traveled to a far country in search of diamonds not knowing that the farmland he so neglected bore the largest diamond mine of all time in the whole world. Likewise did a professor sell his boiling kettle to a chemist without knowing that that boiling kettle will one day become the origin of the worlds finest and most sought after soft drink brand (Coca Cola). Don’t move along with the bandwagon mentality, it could be destructive in the end. The place might look so nourished and promising, mind you, it could be a trap to lure you out of your rightful place.

Every star shines in its own socket, so, locate your own socket and shine like the greatest of stars. Don’t be so rigid. Change when you sense the need to. Who you are and where you are will determine what you do and what you become. Where you have is better than what you do not have yet. Strive to be who you want to become. Don’t act because others are acting or because somebody is asking you to. No one can live your life better than you can. You are better than you think. Live as the King you are born to be. Get off sight to gain insight. Your decision matters if you are to find your rightful place.

“Those who cannot let go of their past will find it absolutely difficult to face their future”.
The criterion for anyone to be called a successful person is that she/he has been able to maintain their level of success or has improved on them. Except you and I improves on our performances of time past, what we celebrate today would soon become obsolete. Success actually means, “Succeeding in succession”. If your yesterday was good, thank God, but don’t relax, rather, build on those achievements and keep succeeding. In the event that your yesterday was bitter, sad, frustrating, miserable, disappointing,, rejoice because yesterday is gone forever with every each new day that passes and there are more opportunities for you to make amends today. Failure is not totally a bad idea; it’s a new opportunity to make better what you were unable to do the last time. Every one of us wishes to get it at the first instance, yes I know and it’s a good one too. But should in case you didn’t, what will your reaction be? Thomas Edison was said to have failed 999 times in his quest to invent the light bulb, but do you know that in those cases, he found 999 ways to succeed and in which he actually did succeeded.
Do you know that the more you think about the past, is the more you are tied to your past and the more you lag behind?
Yesterday is gone, today is a guarantee and tomorrow is a probability. Today and tomorrow are loaded with numerous possibilities and you must take full advantage of them if you are to keep succeeding. Stop wallowing in regret and self pity. Up your performance from yesterdays level and your achievement today will be upgraded. Refuse to downgrade yourself because of the event of last time.
You don’t have too much time to waste in life. There is more you can get today than what you have gotten already and there is more you can get than what you probably have lost. You can be better than you are presently. Have you ever wondered why successful people hardly rest? The reason is not far-fetched. It is because they don’t wish to be irrelevant.

Keep Succeeding

Keep moving, don’t stop moving. Don’t let the oil stop flowing and that is the more reason you should keep pouring. Success is all over you. It won’t stop coming until you stop acting. Only those willing to change can b in charge. The way to keep living is to keep succeeding. Don’t slow or break your pace. To avoid being irrelevant, you better keep succeeding. Success is you inheritance. It has no end until you call it quit.

Problems Reveal Genius

Learn from the experience of a Leader

Problems are servants. They help you grow and lead to better things, both within your organization and in your life. To resist them is to avoid growth and progress. Embrace and get the best from the challenges in front of you. And understand that the only people with no problems are dead.

An unhappy customer yelling at you might seem like a problem. But to a person thinking like a leader, that scenario is also an opportunity to improve the organization’s processes to ensure that doesn’t happen again. So the problem has actually helped to improve the company.

An interpersonal conflict at work can seem like a problem. But if you think like a leader and use the circumstance to build understanding, promote communication and enrich the relationship, the problem has actually made you better. It has been fodder for your growth and served you nicely.

An illness or a divorce or the loss of a loved one might seem like a problem. Sure it’s painful (been there, done that). But I’ve been shaped by my saddest experiences. They’ve brought me depth, compassion and wisdom. They’ve made me the man that I am. I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Is your problem like a lion

Problems reveal genius. World-class organizations have a culture that sees problems as opportunities for improvement. A mistake is only a mistake if you make it twice. And world-class human beings use their stumbling blocks as stepping stones. They use their failures to bring them closer to success. They don’t see problems. They see possibilities. And that’s what makes them great.

Champions are never chosen from the ranks of the untested. You must battle ready if you want to matter much in life. Don’t think of the star you are waiting to become without thinking of the scar which will become your mark from the battle to stardom. Thus, you can never be a warrior without actually going to war. Its better you have the scar and become the star than be scarred. When the going gets tough, the tough will keep going. Anything what defending is what dyeing for.

Note this, “the person who sees an obstacle as a challenge is more likely to overcome it than the one who sees the same as a problem”.

How to Motivate Yourself – Success Strategies to Keep You on Track – All of the Time

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you try to focus on your goal but cannot? Learning to stay motivated and on track can make the difference between your success and failure when you are pursuing a goal. When you are highly motivated you find yourself doing whatever it takes to get the job done, despite any discomfort you may encounter. When your motivation is not so high you are apt to make excuses to yourself and others explaining why you can’t succeed. How can you concentrate in-spite of the external distractions that may arise; in-spite of the criticism coming from your own family? I guess that is the most discouraging part of it all that your family is not in support of your goal. But how many of you are able to sustain your motivation despite the pressures

It is your job to discover ways to keep yourself motivated. You may find yourself motivated to take action toward your dreams by a dynamic public speaker or a well-written book, but that motivation is frequently short-lived. Without repeated exposure to the book or the speaker, your reasons for being motivated begin to fade into the background noise of your everyday life. You simply return to your comfort zone.

This is what many people do. They get a big burst of motivation and take some action, but they don’t renew that motivation and it starts to slide and diminish. Don’t be like that man who having heard the word went home rejoicing but when asked what he learnt he answered he could not remember. As the motivating factors become less and less important to you, you are less and less willing to put up with any discomfort or challenges. It becomes easier for you to give up.

When your motivation levels go up and down like this you will find it difficult to make consistent progress toward your dreams. That is when many of you begin to reason whether or not your goal is real or just a mirage.

The only true, dependable form of motivation is motivation that comes from within – self motivation. You have to motivate yourself. You have to decide that your goal or dream is more important than whatever challenge, criticism or discomfort you are facing. You learn to act in spite of the challenges. Many greats of our time did make it against all odds, most of them where written off, many were branded failures, many others were said to become nonentities.

Here are a few tips to help you maintain that level of motivation.

  • Is your dream a promise or just a wish – Motivating yourself to take action is easy when you have a strong enough reason for reaching a goal. A burning desire to achieve something will cause you to take much different action than a wish or a hope will. Do you know that promises are more difficult to be broken than goals are? Is that goal or dream a promise to yourself or a mere wish? Try making a promise to yourself to achieve that goal.
  • Visualize your dream – If you focus too intently on the steps between you and your dream you will find yourself getting sidetracked by perceived problems and challenges. Try to keep your eyes on the result that you want to create. This will make it easier for you to stay focused on the important things. Focus and look intently on the big picture you want to achieve. Create it, modify and beautify in your mind.
  • Focus on your dream throughout your day – tape reminders or pictures of your goal on your bathroom mirror or on your refrigerator. Carry a card with your goals written on it with you at all times. Get creative!
  • Make the dream yours but share with like minds – some people have drifted from their goals and ended up pursuing a dream that is not theirs. For your motivation to stay strong, make the dream yours, if not, you will treat it anyhow because it is not yours. Remember, “Where your wealth is, there your heart will be also.” That dream cannot die and the motivation to pursue it will not fade it is yours.

What have people called you because of your dream? I want to assure

Keep on track or get sidetracked

you that no man knows the value of your dream better than you. You can learn to create change in any area of your life once you understand and apply these success strategies. No that your critics might not know what you are up to and so, they can talk as they like, it is just a function of time and their stories, tales and testimonies will change.

Stay blessed.

Staying Positive through Tough Times

One of the toughest challenges life throws at us is staying positive through tough times in our lives. It is a test to stay positive in order to find solutions to those things that are making our life hard or a living hell. However, it is by staying focused and positive that we are able to overcome the difficulties in our life that at time may seem impossible to overcome. It is not easy to stay positive under adverse conditions, but it can be done.

The first step in staying positive through tough times is actually pinpointing what the adverse thing is so it can be eliminated from our lives completely. This will not happen over night. Negative situations take a toll on a person emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally after a while. It can immobilize a person from being productive. What happens are negative or adverse situations become part of our subconscious mindset so our conscious actions react in a state of negative action instead of positive action to change our adversities. The subconscious thoughts tell the conscious mind there is no way out of the adversity and you are to settle in it.

This is how negative mindsets work. They set in and overtake any possibility of finding or fighting for positive answers to your problems. It is suggested that if you are the type who finds it difficult to remain positive under difficult circumstances, that you write your situation down on paper first so you can see it. Once you see it on paper, you can then look for ways to alleviate the adversities you face. Researching solutions is one of the best ways to change negatives into positives. Many times when we are in trouble we think we are the only one in the world with that particular problem. In reality, when you research you find out that others have similar or identical situations to yourself. This, first of all lets you know you are not alone. This can help you find the answers as well as how others are dealing with the same situation as yourself. This, in itself, is a positive step to know that you are not alone in your plight. Negativity thrives on isolation.

Being positive is one of the best attributes a person can have in this life. It keeps one pro-active not to accept the adversity that is occurring in their life at the time. It activates your inner strength to overcome the odds that are stacked against you. Staying positive through tough times also allows you to remain in control of yourself and your situation in spite of the negative conditions around it.
